Science and Quality
Phytosphingosine
Phytosphingosine is a native skin lipid component that can support the barrier function (the condition of your outermost skin) and improve the appearance of mature, photoaged skin.
Gatuline® In-tense
Clinically-studied Gatuline In-tense (Spilanthes acmella extract) helps activate the skin’s natural lifting and firming abilities. An in-vivo study shows that Gatuline In-tense rapidly reduces the appearance of wrinkles beginning in 1 day.
- An oily extract taken from the upper part of Spilanthes acmella, a native South African plant
- Acts on the skin’s natural lifting properties, for firmer-looking skin
- Studies also show that it boosts the appearance of smoother, firmer skin
Niacinamide
This hydro-soluble form of vitamin B3 helps improve skin hydration by reducing transepidermal water loss (TEWL). A study shows that 2% niacinamide improves skin hydration by reducing TEWL by 27% in 4 weeks. Niacinamide also helps increase free fatty acids and ceramide levels in the skin. Ceramides are natural lipids found in skin’s vulnerable outer layer. They’re the “glue” that holds surface skin cells together and help skin retain moisture. When ceramide levels are low, skin has difficulty retaining moisture.
Shea Butter
Derived from shea nuts and naturally rich in vitamins A, E, and F, this butter provides the skin with nutrients, cinnamon acid, and essential fatty acids that are key to soothing dry skin. In fact, the concentration of natural vitamins and fatty acids makes shea butter incredibly nourishing and moisturizing for your skin. It also contains oleic, stearic, palmitic and linolenic acids, which protect and nourish the skin, preventing drying.
Squalane
Squalane is a natural emollient (a substance that smooths and softens the skin) that makes skin supple without making it greasy. It has been used as an ingredient in topical creams and cosmetics for over 25 years.1
Jojoba Esters
In a double-blind, placebo-controlled human clinical study, researchers evaluated the skin application of jojoba esters. The results showed a decrease in dryness, roughness, and flakiness in just 30 minutes; reduced fine lines in one hour; and visibly improved skin firmness in 5 hours.2
Avocado Oil
Rich in vitamins A, D, and E, essential fatty acids, and flavonoid antioxidants—which are crucial for maintaining the appearance of healthy skin—avocado oil's lipid and vitamin content has high moisturizing and emollient power. Plus, it helps maintain skin barrier function.
