The superior support you need to keep your eyes healthy
Eye health is the elephant in the room that many people seem to ignore. Everyone should be taking steps to support their eye health, no matter what their age. It's time to give some serious consideration to your eyes and how you can treat them well. Especially now due to the constant exposure to blue light emitted from digital devices like smartphones, computers, tablets, and e-readers.
Vision Advantage® brings what Dr. Williams believes are the best eye health ingredients from across the globe with just the right clinical research, all designed to help keep your eyes healthy for the long haul.
It all starts with 2 award-winning ingredients: Lutemax® 2020 Lutein, a clinically validated combination of lutein and zeaxanthin in a 5:1 ratio—the same ratio found in the human body—and clinically validated astaxanthin.
Lutein and zeaxanthin are essential phytonutrients involved in the maintenance of eye health. Both of these nutrients are found in various parts of our bodies, but they are most concentrated in the eye, especially in the retina, where entering light is filtered.
“Innate sunglasses” filter out harmful blue light
Lutemax 2020 has been studied to show that it helps shield your eyes from harmful blue light, and supports the health of your macular pigment.
In addition, the powerful combination in Lutemax 2020 lutein has been shown to…
- Boost lutein and zeaxanthin levels in the body
- Support normal macular pigment optical density (MPOD)
- Support visual recovery after bright light exposure
- Support visual adaptation to low-light conditions
Study shows improvements in MPOD
A study conducted at the University of Georgia found that supplementing with 5, 10, or 20 mg of Lutemax 2020 Lutein, the exact same lutein in Vision Advantage, rapidly increases Macular Pigment Optical Density (MPOD). The most rapid increase occurred with a 10 mg dose1, which was different than previous studies showing only a gradual rise in MPOD levels. Macular Pigment (MP) is the yellow pigmented spot found in the center of the retina known as the macula. It's important because it absorbs potentially harmful blue light, and higher pigment density improves visual acuity, light sensitivity, and glare recovery.
Given that lutein and zeaxanthin are not produced by the body—and knowing that the average US consumption is far below levels that are beneficial (good sources are foods such as eggs, broccoli and peas)—supplementation is important.
Full 6 mg research dose of astaxanthin reduces eyestrain and fatigue
It seems everyone is jumping on the astaxanthin bandwagon these days. And for good reason. Astaxanthin is a powerful antioxidant. That's why it's been the second cornerstone in Dr. Williams’ Vision Advantage formula for years.
Astaxanthin comes from microalgae that are found in abundance from arctic marine environments to common freshwater rock pools throughout the world. It's what gives the pink and red color to salmon, shrimp, and lobster. Several double-blind, placebo-controlled studies have shown that a special form of astaxanthin helps reduce the symptoms of eyestrain and fatigue, and even the stiffness you get in your shoulders and back from tired eyes. Plus, studies show that astaxanthin supports visual acuity. But that's not all. Astaxanthin provides support against oxidative stress, and supports healthy blood flow, HDL levels, and potentially even immune health. You get a full 6 mg research level of astaxanthin in each daily dose.
These great Chinese and Indian secrets can't be found in other formulas
During his research in China, Dr. Williams discovered their best-kept secret for healthy, keen vision—an ancient Chinese recipe called Hachimijiogan (pronounced ah-chi-mijo-jan) that's a precise blend of 8 different herbs.
That's why Dr. Williams included 100 mg of this unique blend of herbs in Vision Advantage.
You also get a unique, Ayurvedic herbal complex called Triphala, which means “three fruits.” Ancient uses suggest that, when combined, the health-giving fruits support optimal eye health.
Additional antioxidants support the health of your lenses
The biggest threat to your eyes is harmful free radicals. In Vision Advantage, you get an arsenal of antioxidants, including N-Acetyl L-Cysteine (NAC), plus vitamins A, C and E.
Nowhere else will you find supplements for eye health based on traditional uses from around the world and the latest scientific research and advances. Vision Advantage contains research levels of lutein and astaxanthin plus traditionally used herbs from around the world to help keep your eyes healthy in every way possible.
